How to Measure for a Chastity Cage
Three measurements matter for fit.
1. Cage Length
Measure your flaccid penis, from the base of the shaft to the tip of the glans. If you have a foreskin, retract slightly to access the tip.
Your flaccid length shifts more than you'd expect: temperature, stress, time of day all play a role. So:
- Measure 2-3 times a day
- Do this for about 3 days
- Take your smallest recorded measurement, then subtract 10-20%. That's your target cage length.
The fit should be snug. Your glans should reach the front of the cage with no gap. A gap means movement, friction, and pinching. Getting the chastity cage length right is the first step to comfort.

2. Base Ring Diameter
This ring encircles both your penis and scrotum at the base. It's what holds the cage against your body.
To measure: wrap a tape around where the scrotum meets the perineum. Don't pull tight. Convert the circumference to diameter using the following formula:
BEHAVE comes with multiple ring sizes to help you find the right fit. A smaller ring provides a more secure hold, while a larger ring offers additional comfort. Try different sizes until you find the balance that feels right for your body.
Once it's on, here's the simplest way to check the fit:
| Fit | Check |
|---|---|
| Too tight | You can't slip one finger underneath |
| Just right | One finger slides under comfortably |
| Too loose | The ring moves around freely |
Finding your base ring size for chastity is critical for safe wear.

3. Cage-to-Ring Gap
This is the space between the back of the cage and the front of the base ring, what actually keeps the device secured against your body.
- Too wide: testicles may slip back through the gap
- Too narrow: may create painful pressure on the spermatic cords
Most devices come with a fixed gap that cannot be adjusted. If the gap feels uncomfortable despite using the correct ring size, the device itself may not be the right fit for your anatomy.

How to Put On a Chastity Cage Step by Step
Already holding the cage? Follow the chastity cage wearing steps carefully.

The steps below use BEHAVE, Badism's chastity device, as reference.
Step 1: The Base Ring
Work one testicle through at a time. If this step feels difficult, apply a water-based lubricant to the testicles and the ring to make the process easier.

- Bring the ring up from below and contact your lower testicle first
- Ease it through the opening. The scrotum is more elastic than it feels, so go slowly
- For the second testicle: guide it directly through, or pull the surrounding scrotal skin first and let the testicle follow. If one testicle is noticeably larger, start with that one.
- Once both are through, fold your flaccid penis down and thread it under the ring
Step 2: Cool Down
You're probably hard at this point. That's normal. Set everything down and do something genuinely boring for 5-10 minutes. Come back when things have settled.
Step 3: The Cage
Apply lubricant to both the inside of the cage and the shaft of your penis. Slide the cage on and align the locking mechanism.

The goal: tip of the glans sitting flush against the front of the cage, no gap. Once aligned, close the lock.

Chastity Cage Break-In Period: What to Expect
Building Up Wear Time
Start with an hour. If that's comfortable, try 2-3 hours the next day. Work up to a full waking day, then overnight, then multiple days.
Once you're comfortable with a week of continuous wear, extending wear time becomes much easier.
Shaving
Shaving the hair around the base ring does two things: it keeps the device sitting closer to your body, and it stops hair from getting caught in the gaps.
A light shave around the ring helps. Whether you go bare is entirely up to you.
If keeping up with shaving isn't your preference, BEHAVE's companion support strap keeps things in place throughout the day.
Night Erections
Understanding night erections with chastity helps you adjust comfortably.
The body's natural erection cycle during sleep will pull the cage forward and tighten the base ring. Most people learn to sleep through mild versions of this. A small amount of lubricant around the base ring before bed helps. If it's consistently waking you and causing real pain, that's a fit issue worth addressing.
Hygiene
Cleaning is important, especially for longer wear.
Daily: Rinse thoroughly in the shower with warm water, working through any openings or ventilation in the cage. Use a mild, unscented soap. Dry everything completely afterward, a cool setting on a hairdryer is useful for hard-to-reach spots.
Weekly/Regularly: Remove the device entirely. Inspect the cage for buildup or rough spots. Soak in warm soapy water and use a soft brush to clean any textured surfaces.
While the cage is off, check your skin for redness, irritation, or swelling. If anything looks unusual, rest before resuming wear.
Chastity Cage Safety: When to Remove Immediately
Remove the device immediately if you notice:
- Significant color change in the scrotum or shaft, anything going purple, dark red, or otherwise discolored
- Persistent swelling of the scrotum that doesn't clear within 20 minutes
- Noticeable coldness in the scrotum (slightly cooler than normal is fine, cold is not)
- Numbness or tingling anywhere, this indicates nerve compression and requires immediate action
- Chronic, ongoing pain (brief transitional discomfort is different from pain that doesn't resolve)
- Deep, deferred aching inside the scrotum away from any contact point, this can signal vascular or nerve compression
